Privacy Policy
How we collect, use, and protect your data.
Contents
1. Information We Collect
Zynternet Technologies ("we", "us", or "our") collects information to provide and improve our ISP management platform. The types of data we collect depend on how you use our service.
Information You Provide
- Account information: Your name, email address, phone number, ISP/company name, and password when you create an account.
- Customer data: When you use our platform to manage your ISP, you enter your end-customers' names, phone numbers, package assignments, and payment records. This data is stored on your behalf.
- Payment information: We do not store credit card numbers. Payments are processed through third-party payment processors (M-Pesa, Selcom) who handle sensitive financial data under their own PCI-DSS compliance.
- Communications: Messages you send through our contact form, WhatsApp, or email support channels.
Information Collected Automatically
- Device & browser data: IP address, browser type, operating system, screen resolution, and language preference.
- Usage data: Pages visited, features used, session duration, and error logs.
- Router telemetry: When you connect MikroTik routers, we collect device model, RouterOS version, interface names, uptime, and bandwidth statistics. This is necessary for the platform to function.
2. How We Use Your Data
We use collected data for the following purposes:
- Service delivery: To operate the Zynternet platform — managing customers, processing billing, provisioning routers, and sending notifications.
- Communication: To respond to your support requests, send service notifications, and inform you about platform updates or maintenance.
- Improvement: To analyze usage patterns, identify bugs, and improve the platform's performance and features.
- Security: To detect unauthorized access, prevent fraud, and protect the integrity of our systems and your data.
- Legal compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, and lawful government requests.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Data Sharing
We may share your data in limited circumstances:
- Payment processors: M-Pesa (Vodacom Tanzania) and Selcom receive transaction details necessary to process payments. They operate under their own privacy policies.
- SMS gateways: When you send SMS notifications through our platform, customer phone numbers and message content are transmitted to the SMS gateway provider for delivery.
- Infrastructure providers: Our hosting providers may have access to encrypted data as part of providing server infrastructure. They are bound by data processing agreements.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by law, court order, or government regulation. We will notify you unless legally prohibited from doing so.
4. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on secure servers with the following protections:
- All data in transit is encrypted using TLS 1.3.
- Database connections use encrypted channels. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt.
- Access to production systems is restricted to authorized personnel via SSH key authentication and two-factor authentication.
- Automated backups are performed daily and stored in encrypted, geographically separate locations.
- Router communication uses WireGuard VPN tunnels with end-to-end encryption.
While we implement industry-standard security measures, no system is completely secure. We encourage you to use strong passwords and enable two-factor authentication on your account.
5. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Export: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format (CSV).
- Objection: Object to certain processing activities, such as direct marketing.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@zynternettechnologies.com. We will respond within 30 days.
6. Cookies & Tracking
We use a minimal set of cookies:
- Session cookies: Essential for authentication. These expire when you close your browser.
- Preference cookies: Remember your language and display settings.
- CSRF tokens: Security tokens that prevent cross-site request forgery attacks.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or analytics cookies from external providers. We may implement our own internal usage analytics in the future, and will update this policy if we do.
7. Third-Party Services
Our platform integrates with third-party services that may have their own privacy practices:
- MikroTik RouterOS: Router API communication — data flows between your router and our servers over WireGuard.
- M-Pesa / Selcom: Mobile money payment processing.
- SMS Gateway APIs: For sending SMS notifications to your customers.
We choose partners carefully and require them to maintain appropriate security and privacy standards. However, we are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services.
8. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you cancel:
- Your data remains accessible for 30 days after cancellation.
- During this period, you can export all data in CSV format.
- After 30 days, all personal data, customer records, and router configurations are permanently deleted from our active systems.
- Encrypted backups containing your data are purged within 90 days.
We may retain anonymized, aggregated usage statistics indefinitely for product improvement, as these do not identify individuals.
9. Children's Privacy
Zynternet is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a minor, we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
- Notify existing users via email for material changes.
- Post a notice on our platform dashboard for significant updates.
Your continued use of Zynternet after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
